Humidity & Slurpees
Hey Brad,
Your Slurpee page rules. For the past five or six years I've been living in Utah, Nevada and Oregon, all which have a plethora of 7-11s that serve forth the nectar that we crave so much. Now I'm going to graduate school in South Carolina where there are NO 7-11s! I don't need to tell you that I'm not going to degrade myself by stooping to drink an Icee. I'll do without, thank you very much. Your page helped quell some of the "shakes" and chills I was having from Slurpee withdrawal.
Anyway, here's my story. Many, many moons ago (as in many years ago, since I'm married now) I was living with my girlfriend in the Washington, DC area. Since she was always falling asleep early in the evening, I'd make many late night Slurpee and pinball runs to local 7-11 stores. As the summer wore on, I actually befriended the man who was charged with keeping the Slurpee machine up and running! No less a source of wisdom and arcane power than Ghandi was this man. He told me that high humidity of the DC area exerts a negative effect on the production of Slurpees. Unlike a fine cigar, which benefits from humidification, the Slurpee gets all gloppy and soup-like. From my experiences, this seems to be true since the finest Slurpees I've had have been in the low-humidity climate of Las Vegas, Nevada. I was wondering if you or anyone else knows anything about the effect of humidity on the Slurpee.
Once again, your page is great. Keep spreading the gospel according to the Southland Corporation.....
