The story
It was a few summers ago when this happened.... I was inside on the computer (surprising?) and my mom and dad were outside pruning this big 20 foot hedge thing. Anyway, my dad took off for something and my mom was doing it herself for awhile. She had done this fine before and was doing fine until she ran out of cord for the pruner. She yelled at me and I came out and she told me to untangle the cord and feed it to her. I looked and saw that the tangle was way up in a tree where I couldn't reach. I told her that but she couldn't hear me and kept telling me to untangle it. After a long time I finally yelled at her that I couldn't. She then came down to try to untangle it herself but she didn't quite come down right.... She turned around and went down the ladder like stairs, which we found out months later, and the ladder started to slip because she didn't come down slow and it started to tip so she grabbed some of the tree and then the ladder fell and she fell right after that and landed 10-15 feet below on the concrete. I just heard the crash and came around the corner and saw her foot totally ripped behind her foot. I was yelling and screaming and didn't know what to think. I was going wacko. She stayed calm and just said to go call 911. I called 911 and told them about it and everything. The ambulance and fire trucks and whole neighborhood came shortly. They took her in an ambulance and I got to ride in the front. You always think ambulances haul ass but they don't... they drive super slow. Anyway, we got to the hospital and I had to fill out all this stuff while they were hauling her around. In the room they had all these doctors and stuff and they were all surprised at how bad it was. One of them asked if he could take a Polaroid. My mom said he could if she could have a copy. The picture above is that picture, but after they straighten the foot and removed the chunks of dirt and plant.... In the end they were able to put it "all back together again" but she was on crutches a long time and stuff. She can ski now and everything. Orthopedic surgeons are cool....
